  • 1 pound diced turkey bacon
  • 1 large yellow onion, finely diced
  • 2 small Fuji apples, peeled and diced
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 3 tablespoons barley tea

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, cook the diced turkey bacon until crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.
  2. Leave about 4 tablespoons of grease in the pan; discard the rest. Sauté the diced onion in the remaining grease until translucent (8-10 minutes).
  3. Add the diced Fuji apples and cook until softened (4-5 minutes), stirring frequently.
  4. Stir in minced garlic, brown sugar, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, chili powder, and cooked turkey bacon.
  5. Remove from heat and mix in the barley tea. Return to heat and simmer for 10-12 minutes until thickened.
