  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 8 wooden sticks

  1. Prepare your baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or spraying it lightly with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Insert wooden sticks firmly into the stem end of each apple.
  3. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water; stir gently and heat over medium-high until boiling.
  4. Boil without stirring until the mixture reaches 300°F (about 15 to 20 minutes). Use a candy thermometer for accuracy.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in red food coloring until evenly mixed.
  6. Quickly dip each apple into the hot candy mixture, turning to coat evenly before placing on the prepared sheet.
