  • 2 tsp black tea leaves (or 2 tea bags)
  • 1½ cups water
  • 1 cup coconut milk (full-fat or light)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 34 whole cardamom pods (slightly crushed)
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger (sliced)
  • 23 whole cloves
  • 12 tbsp coconut sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized saucepan, bring water to a boil.
  2. Add the cinnamon stick, crushed cardamom pods, sliced ginger, and cloves; simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the black tea leaves (or tea bags) and steep for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Pour in the coconut milk and let simmer on low heat for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  5. Sweeten with coconut sugar to taste.
  6. Strain into cups or mugs and enjoy hot or chilled over ice.
