  • 1 medium shallot, finely diced
  • 4 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 3 tablespoons dried minced onion
  • 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons paprika

Instructions

  1. Heat canola oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Add shallots and minced garlic; stir until bubbling.
  2. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook until shallots and garlic are golden brown and crispy (20-25 minutes). Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
  3. In a small bowl, mix dried minced onion, red pepper flakes, kosher salt, chili powder, and paprika.
  4. Strain the hot garlic mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into another bowl to separate the solids.
  5. Once cooled, combine the crispy shallots and garlic back into the oil mixture and stir well.
  6. Transfer your Garlic Chili Oil into a clean jar with a tight-fitting lid and store in a cool, dark place for several weeks.
