  • ½ teaspoon coarse sea salt
  • 1 large egg, room temperature and lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons unsulphured molasses
  • 2ÂĽ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • Âľ teaspoon ground cloves
  • Icing and sprinkles for decorating

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer, beat together room temperature butter, dark brown sugar, granulated sugar, and both types of salt until light and fluffy.
  2. Mix in the egg and molasses until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, ginger, cinnamon, apple pie spice, and cloves.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture on low speed until just combined.
  5. Divide the dough in half, roll each half to â…ś-inch thickness between parchment paper, then chill for at least 2 hours.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut shapes from chilled dough and place on lined baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges darken slightly. Cool before decorating.
