  • 2 tbsp melted butter (or vegan butter, for icing)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup (for icing, optional)
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract (for icing, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, spices, salt, and sugar.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles small peas.
  4. Stir in the milk and molasses until fully combined.
  5. Shape the dough into a circle on a parchment-lined baking sheet and brush with milk.
  6. Sprinkle with sugar and cut into wedges.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
