Perfect for autumn gatherings or Halloween celebrations, these candy apples are not only visually appealing but also irresistibly tasty. Their sweet and spicy flavor profile makes them a beloved classic among both kids and adults.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples (washed and dried)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Red food coloring (optional)
  • Wooden sticks
  • Butter or non-stick spray (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Insert wooden sticks into the tops of washed and dried apples. Grease a baking sheet with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and cinnamon. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil without stirring. Use a candy thermometer to monitor until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  4. If desired, quickly stir in red food coloring before removing from heat.
  5. Dip each apple into the hot candy mixture, turning to ensure even coating. Allow excess candy to drip off.
  6. Place coated apples on the greased baking sheet and let cool at room temperature until set.
