Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup water
  • ⅔ cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup strong coffee
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon gingerbread syrup (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Make the Gingerbread Syrup: In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, molasses, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg. Bring to a boil while stirring until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  2. Prepare the Gingerbread Cream Topping: Using a handheld milk frother, whisk together 1 tablespoon of gingerbread syrup and heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  3. Froth the Milk: Heat milk gently on the stovetop or microwave until warm (not boiling). Use a French press or milk frother to froth until creamy.
  4. Assemble: In a cup of strong coffee, stir in 2 tablespoons of gingerbread syrup. Top with frothed milk and finish off with your homemade cream topping. Optionally garnish with cinnamon dusting and a gingerbread cookie.
