  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Thoroughly wash and dry the apples. Insert wooden sticks into the stem end of each apple.
  2. In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, water, corn syrup, red food coloring (if using), and cinnamon. Whisk until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat without stirring; gently swirl the pan occasionally.
  4. Cook for 10-15 minutes until the mixture reaches hard crack stage (310°F-320°F) using a candy thermometer.
  5. Remove from heat and quickly dip each apple into the candy mixture until fully coated. Place on parchment-lined baking sheets.
  6. Allow to set at room temperature before enjoying.
