  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter (cubed)
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 1 1/2 cups toasted and coarsely chopped pecans
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and lightly coat it with nonstick cooking spray or use a silicone mat.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine white sugar, brown sugar, and evaporated milk. Stir until the sugars dissolve completely.
  3. Insert a candy thermometer and cook the mixture while stirring occasionally until it reaches 240°F (soft ball stage). Remove from heat.
  4. Allow the mixture to sit for one minute before adding cubed butter and pecans. Stir until well combined.
  5. Quickly drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet before it sets.
  6. Let the pralines cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes until hardened.
