  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon maple extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Beat softened butter with maple sugar until fluffy; add powdered sugar, maple syrup, and maple extract.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, and salt; gradually mix into the butter mixture until dough forms.
  4. Chill the dough for 30 minutes, then roll out to 1/8 inch thick.
  5. Cut out shapes using a maple leaf cookie cutter and place on baking sheets.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are golden brown; cool completely on wire racks.
  7. For the filling, blend butter, powdered sugar, maple syrup, vanilla extract, maple extract, and salt until smooth.
  8. Assemble cookies by spreading filling between two cookies.
