Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, vegetable oil, orange juice, hot coffee, orange zest, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients; whisk until smooth.
  4. Pour equal portions into prepared pans and bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool before transferring to wire racks.
  5. For frosting: beat softened butter until creamy; gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder while mixing. Stir in melted chocolate and orange zest.
