  • 1 large head of green cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked white rice
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram

Instructions

  1. Core the cabbage and carefully remove the leaves. Blanch them in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until pliable.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place about 2 tablespoons of filling on each cabbage leaf, fold in the sides, and roll tightly from the stem end down.
  4. Arrange the rolls seam-side down in a large pot or Dutch oven.
  5. Mix crushed tomatoes with beef broth, paprika, and marjoram; pour over the rolls.
  6. Cover and simmer on low heat for about 1.5 to 2 hours until the cabbage is tender.
