  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small yellow onion (diced)
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1½ tsp Worcestershire sauce (halal)
  • ¼ tsp dried thyme
  • ¼ tsp rosemary
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch + ¼ cup cold water (for slurry)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour with brown sugar and spices. Coat sirloin tips evenly.
  2. Heat olive oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the beef on all sides for about 5 minutes; remove from skillet.
  3. Sauté onion and garlic in the same skillet until fragrant.
  4. Pour in beef broth and add seasonings; simmer.
  5. Return the beef to the pan and cover; simmer for 20–25 minutes until tender.
  6. Thicken gravy using a cornstarch slurry; stir until desired consistency.
  7. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
