  • 1 1/2 cups dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 3 eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 tsp espresso powder (optional)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 20 oz semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips (for coating)
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 package candy eyes
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp heavy cream, to thin

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9 x 9 inch cake pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter and 1 cup of dark chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat eggs until frothy, then combine with the melted chocolate mixture.
  4. Add sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt; mix until just combined.
  5. Spread the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes.
  6. Allow brownies to cool before cutting them into squares.
  7. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips with coconut oil for coating; dip each brownie into this mixture.
  8. Decorate with icing to create bandages and add candy eyes.
