Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm milk
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 tablespoons whole milk, as needed for consistency
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing lukewarm milk with active dry yeast; let it sit until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, softened butter, egg, and vanilla; mix to form dough.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface until smooth (about 8-10 minutes). Let rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size.
  4. Beat cream cheese with sugar, vanilla, flour, and sour cream until smooth; set aside.
  5. Roll out risen dough into a rectangle. Spread softened butter followed by the cream cheese mixture and sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top.
  6. Roll tightly into a log shape and cut into sections. Arrange in a greased baking dish; let rise again until puffy.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly before drizzling with icing made from cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk; top with sliced strawberries.
