  • 2 ½ cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup cold butter (diced)
  • ½ cup ice water
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 4 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 egg yolks
  • â…“ cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • pinch salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Peel, core, and slice apples; mix with sugar, spices, and lemon juice.
  3. Prepare pie crust by combining flour and salt; add diced cold butter until crumbly. Gradually mix in ice water until dough forms. Chill for 30 minutes.
  4. Roll out one dough disc into your pie dish; fill with apple mixture and pour over toffee sauce made from melted butter, brown sugar, and cream.
  5. Roll out second dough disc for the top; seal edges and cut slits for steam.
  6. Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
