These Vegan Caramel Apple Puff Pastry Tarts are a quick and delightful dessert made with flaky store-bought puff pastry, fresh apples, and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar. They’re perfect for fall gatherings, easy weeknight treats, or a cozy holiday dessert — and they’re completely dairy-free and gluten-free!

Ingredients

Scale

2 sheets puff pastry (gluten-free if needed)
30 g caster or granulated sugar
2 heaped teaspoons ground cinnamon or sweet cinnamon
4 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
Dairy-free milk, for brushing
Vegan caramel sauce, for drizzling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and ground cinnamon. Set aside.

  3. Roll out the puff pastry sheets and cut them into 8–10 equal rectangles or squares.

  4. Place the pastry pieces on the prepared baking sheet.

  5. Arrange a few slices of apple on top of each pastry square, leaving a small border around the edges.

  6. Brush the edges lightly with dairy-free milk.

  7. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the apples and pastry edges.

  8. Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed up.

  9. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.

  10. Drizzle with vegan caramel sauce before serving, if desired.
