  • 3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup barley tea
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke (optional)
  • 1/2 Tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, barley tea, molasses, hot sauce, liquid smoke (if using), brown sugar, salt, mustard powder, onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, cumin, and black pepper until smooth.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it begins to boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10–15 minutes until slightly thickened.
  3. Allow to cool before transferring to an airtight container for storage or use immediately on your favorite dishes.
