  • 4 medium apples
  • Popsicle sticks or bamboo apple sticks
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 6 tablespoons water
  • ¼ teaspoon red food coloring (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon flavoring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Insert popsicle sticks into the tops of each apple and set aside.
  2. Line a baking sheet with wax paper or parchment paper and coat it with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. In a large saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir well and bring to a boil over high heat while stirring regularly.
  4. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and add food coloring and cinnamon flavoring if desired. Continue boiling until the mixture reaches hard crack stage (300-310°F), about 15-20 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and quickly dip each apple into the hot sugar mixture until fully coated. Place them on the prepared baking sheet to cool completely.
